Dr. med. Christine Schrammek Kosmetik was founded over 50 years ago by Christine Schrammek, an experienced cosmetician and skin therapist. Born in Poland, she laid the foundations for the company, initially founding the Institute for Holistic Cosmetics and then today’s International Academy for Holistic Cosmetics. With much ambition and motivation by the beginning of the 1970s she had brought her GREEN PEEL® herbal peeling treatment to international success. In 1988 her daughter, Dr. med. Christine Schrammek-Drusio, took over direction of the company. As a trained dermatologist she consistently pursued her goal of integrating her medical knowledge into the development of the derma.cosmetics skin care series.

Here is what Dr. med. Christine Schrammek Kosmetik’s owner and CEO, Dr. med. Christine Schrammek-Drusio, had to say during a recent interview.

Q: What is the strength behind Dr. med. Christine Schrammek?

A: Our company is known first and foremost for the medical competence of Schrammek-Drusio. In Germany, the derma.cosmetics brand was the first medically-inspired skin care series for cosmeticians, developed by a dermatologist; for professionals by professionals. For Schrammek-Drusio the quality of the products takes top priority. This starts with the extremely meticulous selection of the ingredients and continues right down to the final quality checks. All products are the result of not only the latest medical findings but also of solid knowledge of modern, scientifically-tested active ingredients and time-proven natural substances. The complex formulas of the derma.cosmetics skin care line solve individual skin problems – highly effective and with excellent skin tolerability; for healthy beautiful skin. And the effects of the carefully-selected combination of active ingredients ideally enhance each other. As a dermatologist, Schrammek-Drusio places special importance on the use of active ingredients in tried and tested concentration levels.

Fifty years of experience is a strength that speaks for itself. Through many years of close collaboration and daily communication we maintain a continuous dialogue with our cosmeticians. National and international. That way, we recognise their needs and can react quickly to them.

Q: What sets you apart from other manufacturers?

A: With our dual brand strategy, derma.cosmetics and GREEN PEEL®, we are able to address and offer solutions to various target groups with a range of different needs. While the focus of derma.cosmetics is on medically-inspired skin care products, the GREEN PEEL® brand is based on all-natural ingredients.

Special emphasis must be placed here on our internationally-renowned GREEN PEEL® herbal peeling treatment. Used successfully for over 50 years, this skin peel is based solely on natural substances, is dermatologically-developed and offers highly-effective treatment solutions. Not only in the anti-aging sector but also as a solution for a wide range of skin problems, such as blemished skin, sebum cysts, hyperpigmentation or for treatment of cellulite or stretch marks after a pregnancy.

The positive effect on the skin’s structure has been substantiated by ultrasound examinations. A peeling method with a wide range of treatment possibilities and customized treatment plans that are individually tailored to the needs of each customer. This is unique, as it is at the same time a biologically natural method which is also based on the dermatological know-how of a skin specialist. With only one product cosmeticians can offer a range of treatments as well as competent skin care solutions for the face and body.

Q: Are there any new products in development?

A: Ongoing development of new products is very important, as there are always new findings being added and the needs of our customers are constantly changing. Therefore we enhance our product range every year.

For instance, BLEMISH BALM will have a new addition in March: the BLEMISH BALM. PERFECT BEAUTY fluids will be supplemented by new colour nuances for both normal and impure skin, so that there will be a tinted moisturiser for all skin types.

In May, we will launch a new product for impure skin in the derma.cosmetics skin care series. This light fluid without any fragrance or colouring agents, mineral oil or parabens contains the highly innovative and effective ingredient micro-silver, combined with a sebum regulator and lactic acid. These ideally combined active substances have a positive effect on the key factors of impure, oily skin (excess sebum production, inflammation, calluses) and leave a clear, matte and normalised complexion.

In the spring, the GREEN PEEL® brand will be expanded to include new herbal masks; specially developed for treatment in the salon booth. And in autumn, we are planning to launch another product under the GREEN PEEL® brand for skin care at home: A moisturiser that cares for skin with a purely natural formula WITHOUT paraffin, PEGs, mineral oil, aggressive tensides, colouring agents, silicone or animal substances and allergy-triggering fragrances. It will create naturally beautiful skin, specially formulated for the needs of demanding skin between the ages of 30 and 45. So there is a lot to look forward to!

Q: What do you think about the future of Dr. med. Christine Schrammek?

A: Thanks to the wide range of products in the series of our two brands we are very well-equipped for the future, because with these products we can offer skin solutions to a wide range of customers with all kinds of different skin needs and wishes.

Additionally, we have invested a lot in new media forms, such as Internet websites and also Facebook activities, as well as our newsletter. Even online training programs are possible today. We see huge potential in the new media, as they not only contribute to brand recognition but also help us acquire new customers.

We are a solid, healthy company with lots of potential. We are constantly investing in the future and continually penetrating new markets.

Q: What education and customer service support do you offer clients – initially and long-term?

A: Customer service is the end-all and be-all of everything in order to work together successfully down the line! In the U.S. we work together with five partners, each of whom supports their customers in different ways. Offering everything from basic product seminars to professional product seminars with a focus on specific topics and including online seminars, we cover the entire vocational training program. Marketing material such as flyers, banners, counter displays and testers are just as important customer-binding instruments as intensive support in the salon booth in the form of specialised Dr. med. Christine Schrammek treatments.

Only certified cosmeticians who have taken the basic course are authorized to work with the GREEN PEEL® herbal peeling treatment. And here too, we offer intensive marketing support in the form of classical brochures, posters and decorating material.

Q: What are your goals for Dr. med. Christine Schrammek and how do you partner with your clients to achieve them?

A: With much passion and commitment we will continue to pursue our goal of further increasing brand recognition in 2012. With a mixture of time-proven marketing instruments together with the new media (e.g. the internet and social marketing via Facebook) we are able to reach not only our cosmeticians but also the end consumer, particularly through mouth-to mouth propaganda. Additionally, we place a lot of importance upon working hand-in-hand with our partners. A very important aspect will be keeping in close communication about the wishes of our customers in the U.S.
