Happy New Year to all! I would like to begin by introducing myself. My name is Amanda Strunk. I’ve been with the magazine for many years, and I’m so excited to finally have the opportunity to write to you throughout the coming year! With that being said, I guess I’m the first of the many changes you will see in the magazine, which makes me wonder…
How do you plan to start off your new year? Are you excited? Do you feel like everything is fresh and new? This is your chance to start over and focus on improving yourself and your spa. Here at DERMASCOPE, we have been excitedly buzzing about 2009 for months. And I proudly announce that we have many fresh, new topics to offer you this year. Visit www.dermascope.com to see our editorial calendar for the new year. As for our departments, the editorial team has been working up new themes and ideas… We’ve dropped a few and added more, all to fit your growing needs.
Something we’ve added back to DERMASCOPE is columns! (Turn to page 49 for Business Perspectives or page 52 to for The Sales Mix.)We will have multiple contributors and a wide arrange of topics for you to enjoy. Each month our contributing writers will rotate to give you a fresh perspective of the topic. The topics will include professionalism, management, sales, marketing, and branding.
The newest department I would like to feature is “10 Things About…” Each month we plan to spotlight one specific topic regarding the main theme of the month. Flip to this department (page 28) to see January’s focus on microdermabrasion crystals.
One thing we aren’t changing is the content of the articles. DERMASCOPE has always strived for unbiased, helpful, educational information, and we will keep it that way. We want to give you, the aesthetician, the massage therapist, the cosmetologist, the professional, the most enlightening, informative, unprejudiced information within the pages of this magazine. We also want to keep you in a strong network of other professionals, which is why we present to you Aesthetics International Association (AIA). For more information on this association, please turn the next page (or visit www.aiaprofessional.com).
Feel free to call me when you have any questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, ideas, opinions… if you are interested in contributing editorially to the magazine… if you have a remarkable treatment from your spa that you would like to have listed in our Great Treatments department (page 36)… or if you would like the opportunity to be featured in our Meet a Reader department (page 30). E-mail me day or night at amanda@dermascope.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
I hope your holidays were merry and whatever your New Year’s resolution is… good luck! Happy New Year!
Amanda Strunk
