If you asked almost anybody that knows me they would hardly associate the word procrastinator with me. In fact, they would be much more likely to describe me as a planner and a doer. For the most part that would be true; give me a project and I can break it down, make a task list, and tackle it without a second thought. If in fact you want to be successful this is a skill set that is pretty much required for an editor/production manager. However, I am the queen of procrastination when it comes to writing and a short list of other activities. It’s not that I don’t enjoy writing; I just simply have a hard time switching from left-brain to right-brain and finding my motivation most of the time.
Also on my short list of procrastinated activities is Touch Therapy and Nutrition. Who among us isn’t guilty of this on some level? Now if you are in the minority of people who take your monthly massage and facial, drink the appropriate quantity of water, eat all the perfect food, exercise regularly, and get the appropriate amount of sleep each night, I applaud you! For the rest of us, I imagine many of these things show up on our annual resolutions list and subconsciously plague us all year thereafter. On the nutrition side, I try to set a good example for my daughters; for now I usually substitute my monthly massage and facial in favor of hugs and kisses from my little beauties. Not quite as relaxing as an hour under the hands of a trained professional, but so much more rewarding!
That aside, I believe when you read this issue you will be reminded of how important both of these topics really are to our health. Most of your client’s likely forget that their skin is indeed an organ, as you know the largest organ of the body. Remind your clients about the importance of nutrition in regards to their skin. If they constantly seem overstressed, uptight, or agitated when they arrive and completely at ease by the end of the hour it may stem from a lack of human touch. It is possible that you are their main source of touch therapy. What an awesome and powerful responsibility you have as a skin care therapist! So I hope that you too will take these articles to heart.
As always, I look forward to hearing your ideas, thoughts, comments, and questions!

Best,

Saundra
