Brian Paris joined Universal Companies in January as Director, New Business Development for North America. He is a specialist in the areas of spa development, design, and sourcing for spa owners, hotel/resort companies, developers, architects, and medical spas. Paris brings over 19 years of design, development, consulting, and FF&E sourcing experience to Universal Companies, including 11 years devoted exclusively to the spa, medical and hotel/resort industries. Universal Companies is pleased to also announce the addition of J. Patrick Campbell to its management team as CEO. In his new position, Campbell will work to continue Universal Companies’ growth and strive to further strengthen the company’s position of leadership in the industry.

Sarfati was honored as a successful leader and innovator in her field of business and was awarded with a Certificate of Recognition of the City of New York by Mayor Michael Bloomberg for her outstanding business and community leadership and a Certificate of Recognition and Gratitude on behalf of the New York City Council by Council Member Helen Sears.
Jane Wurwand, the visionary and skin therapist who founded the Dermalogica brand more than two decades ago, has been named “Woman Business Owner of the Year” by the Los Angeles chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).

Somme Institute was the proud host of a successful Spa Buzz New York Networking Event for spa directors, consultants, and related press from the Tri-State area in March. Somme Institute gave each participant an opportunity to have their photos taken with the Faraghan Medical Camera, a special camera that can “see” three millimeters beneath the skins’ surface so that Somme Institute can track product results and changes in skin. Participating guests left with a surface and ultra-violet subsurface photo of their skin.
