Murad® announced the appointment of Jean Runel as the company’s new Vice President of International. Among other responsibilities, Runel will spearhead Murad’s growth in the European and Asian markets in order to capitalize on the company’s continued domestic success.

The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) announced two significant actions to enhance the association’s services to its members. Mark Pollak, Assistant Secretary and Vice President, member relations is being promoted to the position of Assistant Secretary and Executive Vice President, strategic initiatives. Jana Cary will join CTFA as Senior Vice President for business development and marketing. Cary previously served as the Senior Director of marketing communications for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she a top marketing strategist for the organization.

Designed to communicate both luxury and performance, the new Murad Professional® products are attention getters. The uni-cartons feature an entirely new look for Murad, elevating the brand to a prestige level. To further set these products apart, the Murad Professional cartons are both embossed and debossed with a custom designed varnish.

Vonda Simon, President and Founder of SeaCliff Beauty Packaging & Laboratories, has hired Senad Ibrulj as Research & Development Director. Senad will be developing all of the formulations for SeaCliff clients while working directly with Vonda on aspects of each client’s individual packaging and formulation needs by developing color cosmetics, skin care, body care, hair care, pedicure, manicure, and fine fragrances.

Artur Wasiluk has been acquiring international experience in customer support and serving as a project and import manager with well-known companies such as Eagle Global Logistics GmbH and GeoLogistics GmbH since 2001. As an account manager at drom FRAGRANCES, Wasiluk will be working primarily with customers in Poland and the Czech Republic. With his support, drom will also be intensifying its efforts in other Eastern European countries such as Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria.

Newly appointed COO Charles Gregg joins the Institut’ DERMed family to increase brand awareness, sales, and distribution in 2008. The votes are in! The beauty editors of Allure magazine named Murad’s Lighten and Brighten Eye Treatment the BEST Eye Cream for Dark Circles in its annual October 2007 “Best of Beauty” issue. Barrier Therapeutics, Inc., a pharmaceutical company that develops and markets dermatology products, announced promising results from its ongoing Phase 2a proof-of-concept study with pramiconazole, its novel oral broad-spectrum antifungal product candidate, in patients with onychomycosis (nail fungus) of the toenails. Pramiconazole has previously demonstrated positive results in clinical studies in tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea corporis (ring worm), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea versicolor, vaginal candidiasis, and seborrheic dermatitis.

Psoriasis Cure Now announced finalists in the Psoriasis Cure Now Video Contest. The non-profit group will use the videos to inform Congress and the public about the seriousness of psoriasis and the struggles psoriasis patients face.
