Founded by Walther and Elka Janssen in 1997, Janssen Cosmetics is regarded as a pioneer on the cosmeceuticals market. Janssen was the first company in Germany to market formulations as cosmeceuticals, thereby developing an extraordinary care system which enables the transition between pure beauty care and scientifically-based skin care. This year, Janssen Cosmetics will be celebrating its 15th anniversary and will also be drawing its major brand relaunch, a mammoth task over the past few years, to a close.
History
Janssen Cosmetics has now stood for premium quality and innovation for 15 years! In close cooperation with the “Dr. Sacher Kosmetik” laboratory, the company undertakes research into unique active substance combinations with proven effect. The development of a skin care system based on highly effective active substances has been consistently pursued by Walther and Elka Janssen. Since 1990, their goal and challenge has been to create a care product range which achieves verifiable results and therefore contributes towards improving the skin profile. Walther Janssen headed off to Asia with his first care product range, WHITE SECRETS, which is to be renamed FAIR SKIN in the future, and presented this on a small folding table. The series for light skin was a major sensation and word of Janssen Cosmetics spread rapidly. Demand for new care product series for specific skin types soared. Over the years, further formulations with special active substances were developed for different skin types, enabling beauticians to offer their customers individual treatment and help them achieve particularly effective success.
Around the World
Janssen Cosmetics presented its formulations at international cosmetics fairs and immediately attained a high level of acceptance within the cosmetic services sector. Starting in China and the United States, Janssen Cosmetics was already represented in 15 countries just three years after the company’s foundation. In recent years, the Aachen-based, family-owned company has grown constantly and now exports to over 80 countries – a genuine export world champion!
The Janssen brand has become established around the world and is a renowned beauty salon brand. Today, the product range encompasses over 250 retail and professional products specifically for beauticians. Particular attention is paid to providing sales partners with constant, professional training, with the result that numerous nationalities have already been welcomed to and looked after at the company’s Aachen headquarters.

Despite its international status, Janssen Cosmetics is a family-owned company whose heart lies in the tri-border region of Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Located in Oberforstbach close to the Eifel region, Aachen and Belgian border, the company is managed by company founder Walther Janssen, his wife Elka and their sons Ulrich and Reinhard, who will take charge of the company in 2013.
