The International Congress of Esthetics and Spa (I.C.E.S.) started up its’ spring tradeshow season in beautiful Miami, March 4th and 5th. With blue skies, cool breezes, stunning beaches and magnificent local attractions, Miami Beach welcomed aestheticians, hair removal specialists, educators, massage therapist and makeup artists to another fun-filled and education packed tradeshow.
The General Session hosted by Michelle D’Allaird-Brenner, opened the show by welcoming the attendees on behalf of herself, Les Nouvelles Esthetiques and Spa, and DERMASCOPE Magazine. The General Session was sponsored by Repêchage® and PCA Skin® on Sunday and Monday.
As always, General Session consisted of respected leaders in the aesthetics industry; from aestheticians, nurses, makeup artists and business owners, attendees were provided with a vast array of expertise. This year’s General Session speakers included lectures and demonstrations by Joan Tomeu, R.N.; Anabel De La Vega; Lori Nestore; and Sheila McKenna on Sunday. In addition, during a heartwarming presentation, Peter T. Pugliese was awarded this year’s Crystal Award on Sunday afterrnoon as well. The following day, Boldijarre Koronczay; Sherry Taylor and Linda Rae; and Bruce Baltz took center stage. Then, to wrap up two days of lectures and demonstrations a panel discussion and Q&A session focusing on the future of our industry took place. The panel included four highly respected skin care experts and business owners: Richard Linder, M.B.A.; Allan Share; Joseph Mandato; and Rianna Riego.
The educational opportunities were abundantly available. All told there were 27 education classes and 28 product knowledge trainings. Those numbers do not even include the product demonstrations that were taking place continuously on the exhibit hall floor. From the General Session to the Salon/Spa Business Management Seminar, Medical Esthetic Seminar, In Depth Makeup Seminar, Green Summit, AIA Education Classes, and the Spa Buzz Networking Event … there was definitely a class for everyone.
Eager attendees gathered and patiently waited for the opening of the exhibit hall bright and early on Sunday, March 4th and this enthusiasm continued throughout both days as the tradeshow floor overflowed with attendees. Networking opportunities between exhibitors and fellow professionals made it impossible not to enjoy the positive energy. Several exhibitors also expressed great satisfaction and glee in selling out of some of their product lines by as early as Sunday evening. Attendees, educators and exhibitors unanimously agree that this year’s show was a fabulous success and that they are looking forward to next year’s show.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to all who made this event possible from the educators and exhibitors to the attendees and sponsors. We look forward to seeing all of you in Miami again next year April 7 and 8, 2013.
