What is one of your favorite skin care ingredients?

“Lavender is a favorite ingredient of mine and for people who make their own skin care treatments. This is also a good skin balancer that reduces skin blemishes and moisturizes. It has healing properties and is helpful in healing sunburns.”
~Angela South

“I’ve found that Polyenylphosphotidyl choline (PPC) is best for my severely dry skin come the fall and winter seasons. PPC acts a natural moisturizer to provide soothing benefits to skin, helps heal dry, chapped and inflamed skin, and rapidly moisturizes severely dehydrated skin.”
~Nathan Elia

“Sea Buckthorn Oil (Hippophae rhamnoides) is an ingredient that I look for in my skin care products. Sea buckthorn oil is extracted from the pulp of the berry; it has been used for centuries to aid in blood circulation, improve digestion and inflammation, repair mucous membranes of the stomach and other organs, improve cardiovascular health, relieve coughs, boosts energy and it also acts as a natural pain killer. In addition, it is believed that sea buckthorn berries have a high content of nutrients which aid in neutralizing free radicals. This explains why it promotes smoother skin, less wrinkles and aids in the healing of many skin conditions.”
 ~Patricia Strunk

“As for an ingredient, I would go organic with honey. Honey is very rich in nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins B and C which benefit the skin as well as our health. Honey can be used as a natural antiseptic because of its high content of sugar and in at-home masks for acne-prone skin.”
 ~Elizabeth Brasher

“I love overnight skin serums and always make sure they contain L-ascorbic acid. L-ascorbic acid is the only known natural form of vitamin C in skin care products. This ingredient is a potent antioxidant proven to stimulate the synthesis of collagen, strengthen the capillaries and cell walls, and protects both beta-carotene and vitamin E from oxidation. It should be stored properly; otherwise vitamin C in its oxidized form is of no benefit and actually promotes free radical formation causing damage to collagen and DNA.”
 ~Jennifer Coffey

“I think I am hooked on gluconolactone (PHA) in my face moisturizer! Gluconolactone definitely hydrates my skin, works as a chemical exfoliator, has antioxidant properties, and may provide UV protection against UV radiation.”
~Christina Arnold

“Green tea extract is my favorite ingredient for skin care because it contains tannin, which soothes the skin. The caffeine in the tea also provides anti-inflammatory, tonic properties when applied to the skin. Green tea has been shown to have protective effects against UV damage; therefore, it’s my top pick.”
 ~Miranda Curry

“This is a hard one to answer; my favorite however is tea tree oil which we feature in our products for acneic and oily skin types. Tea tree oil is extremely gentle on the skin and prevents infections, clears clogging of the pores and can reduce scarring that commonly occurs with acne.”~ Jeannette Kravitz

“When I am looking for a sunscreen, I am more in favor of physical blocks like zinc oxide. The moisturizer/sun block “shelter” from Osmosis is SPF 29+ and uses a silica-coated zinc oxide. It is a very safe and effective broad spectrum sun block.”
~Rachael Pontillo
