24 | Married | 5yr old daughter | Professional Skin Therapist and Bridal Makeup Artist | Hatfield, Pa.
When I am not seeing clients… I am spending as much time as I can with my two best support systems… family and friends.
If I was not an aesthetician… I would definitely have a profession in the health/fitness industry, like a nutritionist or personal fitness trainer. I love helping people whether it is to achieve a goal or understand something better.
Best skin care tip… always go to sleep with a clean, vitamin enriched, and hydrated face.
My obsession… asking every new person I meet in a day “How do you take care of your skin” and “Are you wearing your SPF?” I really enjoy sharing my passion for skin care as well as educating everyone about the importance of daylight protection and how it is the best anti-aging secret.
Guilty pleasure…the TV show “Survivor.” It is funny because my whole family makes fun of me. When it is on, it is like my whole world stops and God forbid you talk during the show!
Words of wisdom…everyone is afraid of change but remember change is a good thing. Think outside the box, if there is a need – fill it, and if life gives you lemons, make lemonade!
My aesthetics mentor is… the amazing Jane Wurwand, need I say more?
One thing you would never guess about me is… I was diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome and Reynaud’s Phenomenon at age 12, and I am in remission with Lupus. It is tough living with autoimmune disorders as they can make life very challenging, however I feel that everything happens for a reason and they have only made me stronger and really appreciate life. I really believe I was meant to be a skin therapist because I feel it is a low-stress job (for me anyway because I love what I do) in a relaxing and fun environment.
How do I relax/unwind… with a cup of white or green tea, a bath, and taking a nap once a day even if it is only for 20 minutes, and of course, reading my DERMASCOPE Magazines.
My dreams include… implementing proper skin care education starting in 6th Grade, achieve the 300 hour post graduate certificate from The International Dermal Institute, raise awareness about Sjogren’s Syndrome, and volunteer for The Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation.
Best statistic/fact I give my clients… the 12 days/ 353 days ratio. I tell every client that comes to see me once a month for a skin treatment that I am only taking care of their skin 12 times a year. They are taking care of their skin the remaining 353 days of the year, morning and night, so obviously it is more important that they use the appropriate home care products to achieve their desired results, than to just see me and use nothing at home. I have noticed that this helps my clients, who are being introduced to professional products, justify the investment of purchasing several retail products.
