Maria ImreWhen I am not seeing clients… I stay up to date regarding new procedures in aesthetics and products by scouring religiously through DERMASCOPE Magazine and attending continuing education programs.

Dreaming of… having more personal time. Would love to spend more time riding my bike and mastering kung fu.

If I was not an aesthetician… I would be retired (grin)

Best skin care tip… total cleansing, moisturizing, protecting your skin (from the sun), and eating healthy (taking care of yourself from the inside out).

My home… I love to come home from a full day’s work, lounge on the patio with a glass of wine and chat with my husband. Between our various interests, we never have a dull moment.

Favorite summer trend… enjoy the outdoors… I love my morning runs when I see the dew on the grass, hear the singing of the birds and breath in the fresh air. I can feel my body being energized and there is nothing truly better than feeling alive!

Obsession… to travel the world! So many places to see and people to meet.

The best thing about turning 50… I obtained a black belt in Kung Fu at the age of 49 and am still involved in the martial arts. Anyway, 50 is
the new 30, right?

Guilty pleasure… Having a second glass of a fine wine!

Most memorable celebrity encounter/experience… I had my picture taken with Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Companies’ along with Steve Fossett during the inauguration of the plane (that flew around the world on one tank of fuel) that was dedicated to the Smithsonian Air & Space Annex in Dulles, VA. Unfortunately, Steve perished in the Sierra Madre mountains roughly one year later.

My favorite super hero is… my Mom. She had a tough life raising three kids.

My aesthetics mentor is… Lyn Ross of Institut’ DERMed. She introduced me to a refreshing view of medical/clinical perspectives to skin care.

What was the last song you listened to? Since my husband is a composer, I get bombarded with his musical compositions. He has not named the last song yet.

My favorite book is… “Gone with the Wind,” by Margaret Mitchell
