Debi Barnes
age 54 | spa owner of Turtle Cove Spa | three step-children and four grandchildren (one more on the way!) | Hot Springs, Arkansas
What are you most proud of ? That I have been a mentor to other women and a great grandmother!
What’s the one thing you want in your spa, but you don’t have ? Just one thing? More space!
If you suddenly found $1,000 spare cash, how would you spend it ? I would put it in my “vacation stash” to take my kids and grandkids on a vacation with me.
When you wake up each morning, what makes you want to work ? I’ve always loved to work and I love what I do.
How many hours have you dedicated to continuing education since you’ve graduated ? I am not a professional technician, so continuing education for me is not required. However, I continue to learn about our business through training, attending conferences, reading, and listening to our customers and staff.
What’s your biggest distraction at work ? I love to talk with guests. The staff says my job is to talk to guests and make them late for their appointments!
If you weren’t an entrepreneur, what would you want to do with your life ? I would pursue the arts, perhaps finding my talent. I believe I would love to paint.
What’s your favorite treatment to receive ? Now that is a hard one, but I guess I have to say an aging facial!
If you could only have one product in your bathroom, what would it be ? Lavender scented bubble bath… and a candle.
What’s the one thing you didn’t learn in school that you wish you did ? How to effectively manage people… That has definitely been OJT [on the job training]!
