Facts:
This is a tricky one to answer, but generally speaking, this is a myth. While it might seem like a good idea to “drain” pus from a lesion for speedy healing, one should consider the typical method used for pustule extraction. The at-home technique usually involves some sort of picking or squeezing action that not only agitates the lesion, but also causes inflammation in surrounding tissues. Depending on other internal factors, this inflammation can trigger new acne formation around the area being compromised, making the condition worse. Sometimes treating a pustule may be necessary, but using force rarely produces the desired result.
