I budget for my aesthetics extras by cutting out other “extras.” I no longer get pedicures. I save money by doing them myself. That frees up about 30 dollars a month! 30 dollars a month times 12 months? That’s 360 dollars a year. That’s a chemical peel and some products! I no longer drink Starbucks on weekdays. Four dollars a day times five days a week is 96 dollars a month! Times that by 12 and you have 1152 dollars in BOTOX money! Anybody can afford to budget for beauty! Go ahead, try it!!

I put myself on a budget. I never break it and I use Quicken Home and Business software that lets me know the moment I may need to redirect my spending based on past spending trends..ie taxes coming up for sales, property and such.

I look at advertisement from the previous year and buy advertising space that brings me the most clients and try to get the most out of using social media to market my facility. I purchase my most popular retail products when they are on sale and keep a small supply of products that do not sell as rapidly. I also try to find new ways to market my business using Constant Contact®, which is a very good marketing tool, especially for client retention.

Prior to January, I determine the budget amount and decide which months to spend the money. Then I divide by the number of spending months, leaving one month for emergency extra spending. The emergency fund is never left over by the year end. I have thought that it should be increased. Lots of good spending opportunities arise unexpectedly during the year.

By doing this I can determine where we can cut back and decide if we should allocate more funds in a different direction. Even planning your purchases in advance can help save money. If you watch for specials or sales (maybe picking up a year’s worth of non-perishable items while you are at a tradeshow), it can help ensure that you are not paying the full retail price for day-to-day items.
