wish-upon-a-teenRecently, Wish Upon A Teen, a non-profit dedicated to helping teens, organized a day of pampering at the Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic in Beverly Hills for eight young ladies. The teenagers, who are patients of the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA where they battle cancer, received facials, manicures and makeup application including Ardell® Lashes. The young ladies learned how to apply lashes and got to choose their style from natural faux flare to fun and funky fringe. In addition to lashes, the makeup team used Ardell® products to create and define the brows on the young ladies who had lost theirs due to cancer treatments.

The organization was founded by Sarah Brown, Donna Karan and Arianna Huffington. Wurwand and the other panelists discussed the need for women’s global-financial empowerment through micro-lending, including Dermalogica’s women’s initiative, joinFITE; This program has enabled more than 6,000 women to launch and expand entrepreneurial businesses since the program began.

TerraCycle offers a free recycling program called the Personal Care and Beauty Brigade that can help salons and spas move toward zero-waste. Sponsored by L’Oreal’s Garnier brand, the Brigade is free to join and all shipping costs are paid. Any salon employee can sign up to send in previously non-recyclable hair care, skin care and cosmetic packaging, regardless of brand. For every piece of waste sent to TerraCycle, the collector earns two points, which can be applied to specific charity gifts or converted to cash and sent to the charity of the collector’s choice.

Moche took the stage to discuss skin care trends and business advice for 2012. Day two, Sarfati and guests attended the Hands-On Goal Setting Workshop presented by Eric R. Lewine, vice president of sales and business development, Belvedere USA. Lewine touched on ways to improve organizational and planning skills, personal development, stress management, responsibility and ways to improve efficiency.
